Salzburg Economic Chamber – our key to the industry

The Tourism Schools Salzburg are owned and managed by the Salzburg Economic Chamber that is representing all tourism and hospitality companies in the region. This enables us to have a close contact to the industry and its dynamic developments. More than 40% of our students have an industry background because their parents own or manage tourism related companies.

Tourism Schools Salzburg – 60 years of experience in tourism education all over the world

For more than 60 years the Tourism Schools Salzburg have educated students in the tourism and hospitality sector not only in four locations in the Salzburg province but also in various international partner schools. Salzburg is one of the tourism hotspots in Europe. High quality summer and winter tourism with a special focus on cultural tourism, outdoor and sustainability have reached a very high level that is enjoyed by millions of tourists every year. Seven overnights per capita and a share of almost 20% in the regional GDP make tourism the key factor for wealth and prosperity in the area.

The Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH)

The Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH) is the international branch of the Tourism Schools Salzburg.
Every year a diploma program for tourism specialists is offered with the possibility to focus on

• Hotel management
• Tourism management
• Teachers training in the area of tourism

The programs have a clear practical orientation to enable graduates to return to their countries and apply the new knowledge in their positions within the industry.
As internationally recognized specialists, the graduates from more than 120 different countries form a valuable network of tourism professionals all over the world.
Due to the positive impact on the area of sustainable tourism development the ITH program is funded by the Austrian Development Agency, scholarships for students from developing countries are available.

University of Applied Sciences – our academic backbone

Also under the Salzburg Economic Chamber the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences was established with a Bachelor and a Master degree program in “Innovation and Management in Tourism”. This special realitionship helps us to keep the academic perspective in mind. The excellent reputation of our schools and the close relationship with the local and international tourism industry guarantee a relevant and in-depth theoretical and practical education for future tourism professionals.

As a result, alumni of the Tourism Schools Salzburg hold high-level positions in hotels, travel agencies, tourism ministries and other tourism related institutions worldwide. Each graduate of our tourism programs becomes a member of a world wide network of tourism professionals
