From Sunday 3 February to Saturday 9 February a group of 9 Kessheim students, accompanied by their teachers Carmen Hauer and Helmut Nussbaumer visited London on an ERASMUS+ mobility project.

Visit at „The Dorchester“

The group was invited to visit Barking & Dagenham College, Klessheim’s partner college in London.

On their first day, the highly motivated Klessheim students cooked and served some of typical Austrian specialities, including pumpkin cream soup, Viennese escalopes, apple strudel and „Salzburger Nockerl“. On their second day at the college the students were taken on a superb guided tour of the College’s excellent facilities and got to know the school’s wide range of departments.

For the rest of the week, the group got to see one further prestigious college for hospitality and tourism. They visited Westminster Kingsway College, the award-winning School of Hospitality located in the heart of London, where Jamie Oliver gained his professional qualifications, Two further educational highlights were show-rounds at the five-star hotels „The Royal Garden Hotel“ and the world-famous „Dorchester“, where all participants were warmly welcomed. On the tours round the impressive amenities of the hotels, the students got the unique chance to explore areas which not even guests are normally allowed to see. At both hotels hotel managers and executives of various departments even invited the Klessheim students to apply for one of their future internships.

The project week was rounded off by a varied cultural and culinary programme, including extensive sightseeing and shopping, musicals and eating out in various restaurants. Throughout the week the students benefitted by getting a lot of new impressions, they made a variety of intercultural experiences and certainly also improved their language skills.
